Former Indian spinner and commentator Harbhajan Singh has opened up on the news of Sarfaraz Khan leaking the dressing room conversations to the media. Notably, this piece of news was brought into the limelight by the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir.
After the recently concluded Border Gavaskar Trophy India lost by 1-3, a lot of dressing room news got leaked to the media. Later, Gambhir reportedly identified that Sarfaraz was the reason behind all the recent leaks.
Speaking on the same incident, Harbhajan stated that everyday new stories shouldn’t come out of the Indian team. He stated that Gambhir shouldn’t have revealed the name instead he should’ve had a talk with the young batter.
“Whatever has happened in the last few days, be it in Australia or after that…there are wins and losses on the field. But every day new stories should not come out of the dressing room. Today, there was a report that coach saab (Gautam Gambhir) has said Sarfaraz Khan leaked dressing room talks to media. If coach saab has said this, he should not have done so. If Sarfaraz Khan had done this in Australia, you are the coach, you could have talked to him then. He is a player, make him understand. He is a youngster, he will play for India in the future,” Harbhajan Singh told on his YouTube channel.
Also, Bhajji asserted that Gambhir should be given some time to settle as the head coach as he is pretty new to the role. He also added that senior players' duty is to give wisdom to young players who are part of the team.
“Being a senior player, it’s our duty to give wisdom to youngsters. If he (Gambhir) has said this, that Sarfaraz has leaked the news, and if the player has indeed done so, then it’s wrong. Dressing room talks should not come out in the open. Gautam Gambhir is new to this job, he should be given time. The players should also get time to gel with the new system,” Harbhajan stated.
