LSG top-order batter Nicholas Pooran, who played a match-winning knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Hyderabad, has stated that he is blessed to have an incredible bat speed to perfectly time the sixes.
Notably, Pooran smacked a 70-run knock off 26 balls with six fours and as many sixes to turn the game upside down in a 191-run chase against the Hyderabad-based franchise. He also added that he doesn’t plan to hit sixes. However, if the ball is in his arc, he aims to be in a good position to hit it nicely.
“I’ve never worked on my bat speed, I’m just blessed with incredible talent. I am really happy that I have put in the work over the years and I am getting the reward on the cricket field and winning games for my team as well," Pooran said while speaking after the match.
“I don’t plan to hit sixes. I just try my best to get in good positions and if it is there, just time the ball nicely. In the last nine years, I have been working on my craft. I have been getting the opportunity to bat higher up in the Powerplay as well," he added.
“It is really important to cash in when the wicket is nice, and obviously when the match-up is there, you try your best to execute your skills," Pooran added.
After losing their first game to the Delhi Capitals by one wicket, Lucknow Super Giants made their way to Hyderabad. Though SRH started as strong favorites with their home advantage, LSG turned the tables, bagging a handsome and comfortable five-wicket win.
LSG will next take on the Punjab Kings, who won their first game by 11 runs against the Gujarat Titans, on Tuesday, April 1 at Ekanda Stadium in Lucknow.
