Former Indian pacer Jhulan Goswami has asserted that Harmanpreet Kaur’s captaincy record will remain untouchable, and added that the latter still has four to five years of cricket left in her. Notably, Harmanpreet propelled the Indian team to the maiden ODI World Cup title win last year.

Jhulan Goswami, who is the Mumbai Indians Women’s team bowling coach and mentor, has asserted the Indian skipper still has four to five years of top-level cricket left. Notably, Harmanpreet is the most successful skipper in WPL history, having guided the side to two WPL titles.

“What she has done for Indian cricket, what she has done for Mumbai Indians and franchise cricket, is phenomenal. I don’t think anyone can touch her record in the near future. Being the first World Cup-winning captain, having two WPL titles — and hopefully many more to come — I don’t think so,” Jhulan told PTI.

“The only thing I can say is that the legacy she will leave in the future will be very difficult to describe at this moment, because I still believe she has another four to five years of cricket left in her,” she added.

Furthermore, the former pace bowling all-rounder also strolled down memory lane when Team India celebrated their recent World Cup victory with former players, including herself, Mithali Raj, Anjum Chopra, and Reema Malhotra.

“I don’t think at that time we could exchange any words; it was absolutely pure emotion coming out. I must thank Harman, Smriti (Mandhana) and the entire team for coming up with it — it was not planned,” Jhulan said.

“We were doing broadcast work and were told by our producer that while they were thanking the crowd, we could ask one or two questions. But the way those girls came forward towards us and celebrated that moment — I don’t think Indian cricket, or any sport for that matter, has ever seen such a gesture,” she added.
