I have no doubt India can lift the Asia Cup trophy: Virender Sehwag

Former Indian opening batter Virender Sehwag has supported the Indian T20I team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, to emerge as the winners in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 campaign, which will be played in the United Arab Emirates.

Speaking exclusively on Sony Sports Network, Sehwag stated that the Indian team picked for the Asia Cup 2025 campaign has the right mix of youth and experience. It’s worth noting that India has won a record eight titles so far in Asia Cup history.

"This Indian team has the right mix of youth and experience, and under Surya's fearless leadership, they can dominate Asia once again. His attacking mindset suits the T20 format perfectly, and if the team plays with the same intent, I have no doubt India can lift the trophy," Sehwag said on Sony Sports Network.

"This campaign beautifully brings alive the heartbeat of Indian cricket. No matter which part of the country you belong to, when India plays, emotions unite us. I could feel that same passion in the film, and it's this connection that makes cricket so powerful,” he added.

The eight-team Asia Cup 2025 campaign will have India, Pakistan, the UAE, and Oman in Group A, while Group B has teams, namely Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong, which concludes on September 28.

Suryakumar will captain a 15-member Indian squad in the Asia Cup with the new Test captain Shubman Gill being his deputy. All the matches will be held in two venues- Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
