On Wednesday, December 31, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the updated men’s rankings in the longest format of the game. Multiple pacers, who were part of the Boxing Day Ashes 2025-26 Test, saw changes in their rankings.
Player of the match in the Boxing Day Test, Josh Tongue, who scalped 5/45 and 2/44, rose 13 spots to the 30th rank with 573 rating points in the latest ICC Test bowlers rankings.
Gus Atkinson, who claimed three wickets, moved four spots to the 13th rank with 698 rating points. On the other hand, his colleague Brydon Carse’s five wickets helped him move up six spots to 23rd rank.
Atkinson’s efforts also meant a move to eighth in the Test All-Rounder Rankings with 238 rating points, with teammate and captain Ben Stokes maintaining his spot in third with 316 rating points.
Furthermore, Mitchell Starc’s four wickets were enough for him to join Noman Ali in a tie for second spot with 843 rating points, with Scott Boland moving up two spots to seventh at a rating of 810.
Harry Brook’s 41 and unbeaten 18 helped England win the Boxing Day Test in the chase by four wickets, which saw him move three spots to second on the Test Batting rankings with 846 rating points. Australia’s Steve Smith and Travis Head, as well as New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, moved down one spot each.
Delving into the details of the Boxing Day Test, Australia posted only 152 runs. In response, England posted 110 runs as Australia managed to get a 42-run lead. In the third innings, Australia went on to post 132 runs. In the chase, England finished off the game with four wickets in hand.
