Team India are currently engaged in a three-match home ODI series against England, using it as a crucial preparation phase for the upcoming Champions Trophy. With two convincing wins in the first two games, the Men in Blue have already sealed the series, giving fans a chance to analyse every detail of their squad’s form and composition.

Skipper Rohit Sharma, who has struggled in red-ball cricket recently, was under pressure to regain his touch. While the series opener did not go as planned, he bounced back in the second match with a match-winning century, signaling his return to form.

Having an in-form captain ahead of a marquee event is a massive boost, and this knock provided a sense of relief for Indian fans. Vice-captain Shubman Gill has also been in excellent form, scoring a match-winning 87 in the first game followed by a solid 60-run knock in the second.

With both the skipper and his deputy finding their rhythm, India’s top order is looking promising. Fans remain hopeful that Virat Kohli will also hit peak form soon, despite two underwhelming outings in this series. Meanwhile, the team management seems to be favouring KL Rahul over Rishabh Pant for the wicket-keeping role.

Hardik Pandya, obviously, will be their key players considering his all-round abilities. Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness remains a concern, and the way Harshit Rana has been utilised in recent games suggests he could be in contention as a replacement.

Another intriguing selection debate revolves around the spin department. Varun Chakaravarthy, who has been in sensational form in the shortest format, was handed an opportunity in the second ODI against England. His inclusion hints that he might edge out Washington Sundar for a place in the Champions Trophy squad.

However, if that happens, it will be interesting to see who takes up the role of India's primary spinner—Kuldeep Yadav or Varun Chakaravarthy, or whether the team management opts to play both depending on the conditions.

Kuldeep has been India's go-to wrist-spinner in white-ball cricket, while Varun brings mystery spin, which could be handy on the slow tracks in Dubai.
