Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistani star pacer Haris Rauf have been fined 30 per cent of their match fee by the International Cricket Council (ICC) after being found guilty of the ICC Code of Conduct.
On the other hand, Pakistani opening batter Sahibzada Farhan was warned. While Suryakumar was fined 30 per cent of his match fee for his comments after the India vs Pakistan group stage encounter, Rauf was fined for his fighter-jet gesture.
While Suryakumar pleaded not guilty, the ICC match referee, Richie Richardson, rejected it. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was quick to appeal the decision with the apex body.
"Perfect occasion, taking the time out - we stand by the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. We express our solidarity. Want to dedicate the win to all our armed forces who showed a lot of bravery,” Suryakumar Yadav said after India's win over Pakistan in the group stage.
Interestingly, Pakistani players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan were also investigated for a breach of the code of conduct for their controversial gestures during the India vs Pakistan Super Four clash on Sunday, September 21, in Dubai.
At the hearing, the Pakistani duo was found guilty of a Level 1 offence under the Player Code of Conduct. For the unversed, Farhan was seen celebrating with his bat like a gun after reaching his half-century against India in the Super Four clash, which didn’t go down well with the Indian cricketing fraternity.
Meanwhile, Haris Rauf was seen making a fighter-jet gesture when the Indian crowd tried to mock him with ‘Kohli Kohli’ chants, reminding him of his performance against the Indian batting stalwart at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in the T20 World Cup in 2022.
