India 'A' squad for the England tour likely by May 13; Easwaran, Karun among front-runners

The Indian Premier League's return is the talk of the cricket world, but after the competition, India will travel to England for a five-match Test series, prior to which the India A team will travel to play the England Lions.

Given that a few players will try out for the senior team that will face Ben Stokes' England starting on June 20, the India 'A' tour of England will be crucial. The India 'A' team, which includes a few older players who will try to adjust to the conditions, is scheduled to go alongside head coach Gautam Gambhir.

According to reports, the India A team, which will play the England Lions in the UK on Tuesday, May 13, will be announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The finalisation of the India A team for the England tour may have already taken place in Mumbai, where the Indian selectors convened on May 6, shortly before Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from Test cricket.

Since the IPL final date was moved to May 30, the BCCI has requested that the selectors choose players from teams that are not in the running for the IPL 2025 playoffs or who are not IPL players for the opening match. The setup for the final two games might include the other players.

Because of his outstanding performances on the Indian domestic scene over the years, Abhimanyu Easwaran is the front-runner to be the captain of the India A team on the England tour, according to a report published in Cricbuzz. Karun Nair, the forgotten star, is also likely to be selected for the A team. Names like Tanush Kotian, Baba Indrajith, Akash Deep, Mukesh Kumar, and Yash Dayal are a few of the best players who might be travelling to the UK.

It's interesting to note that seam bowler Shardul Thakur is probably going to be a part of the Indian team. The selectors are thinking about adding him to the team because of his amazing numbers, particularly when he bats in England.
