India and New Zealand will play a series of three ODIs starting January 11. The first ODI will be played at the aforementioned date at the Kotambi Stadium, Vadodara. The second ODI will be played on January 14 at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Rajkot. The third and final ODI will be played on January 18 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore.
The Indian team will be eager to get game time ahead of the five-T20I series against the Black Caps. The Indian squad was announced by the BCCI and saw the return of Shreyas Iyer to the Indian squad, while Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will also be seen in action. Today, we take a look at three Indian players to watch out for.
Here are the 3 Indian players to watch out for in the India vs. New Zealand ODI series:
1. Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli was the Player of the Series in India’s recent-most outing against South Africa. He had scores of 135, 102, and 65* in the three ODIs against the Proteas. He had continued from the Australia ODIs. Kohli will love to feast on a second-string Kiwi bowling attack for the ODI series. Kohli is in good form with the bat, given that he batted well for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
2. Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma had also hit a couple of half-centuries in the South Africa ODIs and was the Player of the Series against Australia. Rohit Sharma played two matches for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and hammered a 62-ball century in Jaipur. Rohit has taken a more aggressive approach as his career moves towards its glorious end, and he would be salivating at the prospect of facing a New Zealand bowling attack with limited experience.
3. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer will make his return to the Indian cricket team after suffering a spleen injury in the third ODI between India and Australia in Sydney. He had last played for India in October 2025 and was recently named the ODI vice-captain. He has made a full recovery and made a good comeback for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. He has been in good form in ODIs and will look to impress all to further bolster his white-ball credentials.
