The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has increased the rates per match and the total agreement price in the new tender, which is a significant move in the Team India jersey sponsorship issue. The BCCI has increased the cost of sponsoring the Indian cricket team to Rs 1.5 crore for a game in a multilateral event and Rs 3.5 crore per match for a bilateral series.
These numbers will be applicable in tournaments that are approved and run by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the International Cricket Council (ICC), per a report published in Cricbuzz. This follows Dream11's decision to no longer sponsor jerseys, which was brought on by the government's Online Gaming Act of 2025.
The BCCI swiftly terminated the agreement with Dream11, the primary sponsor of the Indian squad, in response to the government's new Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025. With the updated prices, the BCCI is anticipated to make more than Rs 400 crore. However, depending on the outcome of the auction, the final amount might be more.
Following Dream11's departure, the cricket organisation opened bids on Tuesday for the Indian team's title sponsorship rights. Companies that deal in cryptocurrency and real money gaming have been excluded from the process by the BCCI. Since the Board has set September 16 as the deadline for bids, the Indian team will not have a sponsor for the Asia Cup, which starts on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates.
A non-refundable cost of Rs 5 lakh plus any relevant GST is required to obtain the Invitation for Expression of Interest (IEOI), according to a BCCI announcement. The Indian Cricket Board has also been explicit about the kinds of businesses that are permitted to apply for the lead sponsorship. As a result, the BCCI has prohibited cryptocurrency companies, online gambling platforms, alcohol corporations, and tobacco companies from doing so.
