New Update
RCB

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are yet to win their first IPL title and they would hope that the IPL 2025 mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia helped them build a squad that could work towards their dream of winning the coveted tournament.

While RCB has added some big names to their roster, there remain some areas of concern that they would like to iron out before the season starts and hope that it doesn’t come back to haunt them.

On that note, let’s take a look at three areas of concern for RCB:

1. Virat Kohli’s form

Virat Kohli was the highest run-scorer in the IPL 2024 season as he amassed 741 runs in the tournament. However, his form ever since for India has been indifferent, especially in the ongoing Bordwer-Gavaskar Trophy where he is struggling for runs. Kohli has for long been the standout batter for RCB and they would be in some trouble if the Indian star doesn’t get going from the get-go.

2. Lack of injury backups in bowling

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Josh Hazlewood’s pickups have given a fine look to RCB’s bowling attack. However, in case of any injuries to these bowlers, RCB do not have the experience to bank on. Hazlewood is already out of the Border Gavaskar Trophy with a calf strain and has been injury-prone in the past as well. RCB will hope that their bowlers remain fit for the whole season so that they do not have to test their bench strength too much.

3. Lack of quality spinner

RCB have the likes of Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma in their ranks, but Krunal is more of an all-rounder and Suyash is inexperienced. They did not go hard in their bidding to bring back Yuzvendra Chahal and that has caused a glaring weakness in their spin department. Especially at their home ground in Chinnaswamy, the lack of a genuine wicket-taking spinner could come back to haunt RCB.

In conclusion, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have made some significant additions to their squad for IPL 2025, but there are still areas of concern that need to be addressed. Virat Kohli's form, the lack of injury backups in the bowling department, and the absence of a quality spinner are key issues that could impact their performance. Addressing these concerns will be crucial for RCB as they aim to win their first IPL title.
