IPL 2025: 3 Key matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Sunrisers Hyderabad head into the Indian Premier League 2025 with an aim to go all the way after falling short of the title last season. The 2016 champions had a close shave in IPL 2024 when they were runners-up to Kolkata Knight Riders.

The Sunrisers have retained the majority of their core, which includes the batting might of players like Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen and the celebrated skipper Pat Cummins ahead of IPL 2025. SRH made some strong buys in the mega auction, roping in stars like Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa and Harshal Patel, among others to boost their squad.

1 - KKR vs SRH, April 3

A key fixture for the Sunrisers will be their face-off against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on April 3. This will be the rematch of the IPL 2024 final and SRH would be fresh off their wounds from the last season. The Knight Riders have bragging rights as they defeated SRH thrice last season.

KKR and SRH have faced each other 28 times and the Knight Riders have had the wood over the Sunrisers with a whopping lead of 19-9. SRH would be under some pressure when they go up against KKR.

2 - MI vs SRH, April 17

Another crucial fixture for the Hyderabad-based unit will be against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede. MI are a pretty strong team on paper and have all the arsenal needed to be a dominant force this year. MI's bowling unit is pretty strong with the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Deepak Chahar, Mitchell Santner and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, matching toe-to-toe with SRH's batting might.

MI and SRH have faced each other 23 times. Mumbai enjoyed a slender lead of 13-10. SRH have beaten MI only once in their last four matches.

3 - CSK vs SRH, April 25

Sunrisers batting unit will have a litmus test against Chennai Super Kings at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. CSK possesses a strong spin unit in the form of Ravindra Jadeja, Ravi Ashwin and Noor Ahmad. If the Chepauk surface helps spinners in 2025, SRH will have their work cut out. 

CSK and SRH have faced each other 21 times. CSK have a massive lead of 15-6 and have won five of the last seven matches against the Sunrisers.
