IPL 2025: 3 Match winners in Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) squad

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders begin their bid for a rare double under the captaincy of Ajinkya Rahane. 

KKR ended their 10-year-long wait for an IPL title when they won their third crown in 2024 by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final.

KKR opened the IPL 2025 with their opening game against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on March 22. The Knight Riders will look to become just the third team in IPL history to win back-to-back titles in the Indian cash-rich league. Here we look at 3 match winners from KKR for IPL 2025.

1 - Sunil Narine

The Sunil Narine and Phil Salt opening pair in IPL 2024 was crucial in providing KKR rollicking starts. While Narine's primary job is to strike with the ball, he brings the rare ability of a four-over expert and a ball basher with the bat in the powerplay at the top of the order.

Narine was KKR's highest run-scorer in IPL 2024, having scored 448 runs with a hundred and three half tons. He was KKR's fourth-highest wicket-taker too, having taken 17 wickets last season.

2 - Varun Chakravarthy

Mystery spinner Chakravarthy is in sensational form currently. Chakravarthy has now become an India regular in T20Is and has made his ODI debut too. 

Chakravarthy took nine wickets in only three innings in the Champions Trophy 2025. The spinner was also the second-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2024 and the highest for KKR with 21 wickets to his name. 

3 - Venkatesh Iyer

KKR's new vice-captain Venkatesh Iyer is also a crucial cog in the team's lineup. His ability to bat in the top and also in the middle makes him a great fit in the team. 

Venkatesh was roped in for Rs 23.75 and while he will have a lot of price pressure, he will be eager to deliver. The Southpaw has made 1326 runs in 51 IPL matches with a hundred and 11 fifties to his name. Venkatesh can be KKR's big game player in IPL 2025 and he will be hoping he can deliver and justify his price tag.
