With great hopes of building on their past achievements, the Gujarat Titans (GT) entered the 2025 Indian Premier League with high expectations. However, the team's overall performance suffered as a result of some acquisitions made during the season that did not provide the expected outcomes.
A fast bowler who didn't have much of an impact and an all-rounder who didn't contribute much were some of the underwhelming additions. The difficulties of striking a balance between team relationships and individual performances in a competitive tournament such as the IPL were brought to light by these recruitment errors.
Here are the 3 Worst Signings by Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2025:
1. Arshad Khan
GT paid ₹1.3 crore to get Arshad Khan, but he had a lackluster IPL 2025 season. He only took six wickets in nine games, which is an economy rate of 10.33, in six games. The effect that one would anticipate from a bowler of his caliber was absent from his performances.
Khan also had physical difficulties throughout the season. He slipped twice during his run-up in a game against the LSG, raising queries about his fitness and performance on the field. Arshad Khan’s poor outings made him GT's less successful IPL 2025 acquisitions.
2. Ishant Sharma
Ishant Sharma's IPL comeback with GT wasn't very good. He only claimed four wickets at an economy rate of 11.18 in seven games. Ishant Sharma failed to make the breakthroughs that a seasoned bowler would have, even if he were a veteran.
Sharma also had disciplinary problems during the season. His difficulties were further highlighted when he was fined 25% of his match money and given a demerit point for violating the IPL's Code of Conduct during the GT vs. SRH match. He hasn't played a game for GT since getting hurt against SRH on May 2.
3. Washington Sundar
Despite his promise, Washington Sundar's IPL 2025 possibilities with GT were limited. In just five games, he took two wickets and scored 85 runs. He performed poorly in both areas, as evidenced by his bowling economy rate of 10.57 and batting average of 21.25.
Due to his limited appearances, Sundar's use on the squad was questioned. He was listed as one of GT's less successful additions for the season because of his limited impact on games.
