IPL 2025: 3 Worst signings by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Sunrisers Hyderabad, the IPL 2024 season runners-up, couldn't live up to expectations in IPL 2025 as they settled for the sixth rank in the standings with six wins and seven losses in 14 games.

Led by Pat Cummins, the SRH franchise couldn't make it big with their aggressive batting approach as the opposition continuously dominated them, which hampered their progress in the IPL 2025 season.

While SRH had some key signings like Ishan Kishan, Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa, and a few others, a few players failed to create a significant impact on the field, turning out to be the worst signings.

On that note, let’s take a look at the three worst signings by Sunrisers Hyderabad at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

3 Worst signings by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2025

1. Mohammed Shami

Former Gujarat Titans pacer Mohammed Shami could scalp only six wickets in nine innings for the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in the IPL 2025 season, with his best figures being 2/28 against the Gujarat Titans.

Unfortunately, he was even benched for a few games as he had an economy of 11.23. He was roped in by the Hyderabad-based franchise for the whopping price of INR 10 Crore at the Mega Auction after being released by the Titans.

While Shami had an exceptional season for the Titans in the IPL 2023 season, scalping 28 wickets from 17 games, SRH was at the receiving end in IPL 2025 as the seamer didn’t regain his full fitness after his right heel surgery.

2. Simarjeet Singh

Simarjeet Singh, the former CSK pacer with five wickets from four innings in IPL 2024, was picked by the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise for the price of INR 1.5 Crore at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

While he had nine wickets from 10 matches prior to the IPL 2025 season, he could scalp only two wickets from four games in the latest edition at an average of 70.5 and a nightmarish economy of 14.10.

While Simarjeet started off the campaign with two wickets against the Rajasthan Royals, he failed to scalp a wicket in the next three games, conceding runs at an expensive rate, which prompted the team management to bench him.

3. Adam Zampa

Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa, who was with RPS, RCB, and RR in the past four editions, was roped in by the SRH franchise for the price of INR 2.4 Crore at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. However, it turned out to be an unfortunate one for the franchise.

After playing two games in the IPL 2025 season, the leggie got ruled out of the remainder of the season due to a shoulder injury. Speaking about his stats this season, he could scalp only two wickets at an average of 47 and an economy of 11.75.

Earlier in IPL 2023, Zampa was part of the Royals franchise, playing six games and scalping eight wickets with the best figures of 3/22 before being released. While he wasn’t part of the IPL 2024 season, he was drafted by SRH at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.
