IPL 2025: Cricket Australia issues statement amid India-Pakistan tensions

As the IPL 2025 contest between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals got suspended due to India and Pakistan tensions, Cricket Australia was quick to issue a statement for the nation’s cricketers, who are taking part in IPL 2025 and PSL 2025 competitions.

Moving into the details of the statement, CA stated that the body is closely monitoring the situation, getting timely updates from the Australian government, Pakistan Cricket Board, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and local government authorities. 

"We continue to closely monitor the situation in Pakistan and India, including obtaining regular advice and updates from the Australian Government, the PCB, BCCI and local government authorities, and maintaining communication with our players and support staff currently in the region," CA said in a statement on Friday morning.

"They are quite comfortable. Everyone in the league is comfortable. The safety and security of every player – be it a local player or a foreigner – every match official and every fan is important for us. We have the clearance of every single authority," said BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia (via cricket.com.au)

Will IPL 2025 go ahead as per schedule?

The IPL 2025 continuation is in serious doubt after Thursday’s encounter got cancelled midway following air raid alerts in nearby cities of Jammu and Pathankot. IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal is closely monitoring the situation and would take a call soon on IPL’s continuation. 

"We are reviewing the situation right now. It is an evolving situation. We haven't received any directive from the government. Obviously the decision will be taken keeping all the logistics in mind," Dhumal told PTI.

Moreover, Dhumal stated that Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants would take on each other as per schedule in Lucknow. 

"Yes it is on as of now but obviously it is an evolving situation and any decision will be taken keeping the best interest of all stakeholders in mind,” he added.
