IPL 2025: Flop XI of the season

Not all of the IPL 2025 season's standout talents, dramatic finales, and exhilarating performances lived up to the hype.

Amid the high-octane action, several big names failed to deliver when it mattered most, struggling with form, consistency, or impact. Poor returns with the bat, lackluster bowling spells, or critical errors in crunch moments cost their teams dearly.

Players who performed poorly over the season despite their opportunities and the hype around them are highlighted in this Flop XI.

Here is the Flop XI of the IPL 2025 season:

CSK’s Rachin Ravindra only managed to score 191 runs with a strike rate of 127.3 in 14 games, unable to duplicate his previous success. He was one of the season's biggest disappointments due to his lack of involvement with the ball and failure to convert starts.

Despite having a few brilliant moments, including a century, SRH’s Ishan Kishan only managed to score 354 runs at 127.5 overall and was unable to produce reliable starts.

Throughout the competition, Rishabh Pant, LSG's captain, struggled, scoring just 269 runs in 14 innings. His lone century came in the final league game, when LSG had already been eliminated from playoff contention. With only 142 runs, Venkatesh Iyer, vice-captain of KKR, had a terrible season.

With only 182 runs in 13 games, SRH all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy fell short of expectations from the previous season. With 112 runs in 10 games without a single game-changing knock, RCB's Liam Livingstone once again fell short of expectations.

Glenn Maxwell of PBKS had one of his worst IPL seasons; he only managed 48 runs in 7 games and seemed dreadfully unmotivated. The CSK captain, MS Dhoni, had a lackluster batting season, amassing only 196 runs and primarily batting at the tail end with little influence as a leader.

Another unexpected addition was GT spinner Rashid Khan, who took just 9 wickets at an economy of 9.34, well below his typical rate. Mohammed Shami of SRH, who typically takes wickets, was only able to take six in nine games. Ishant Sharma of GT completed the XI with just four wickets in seven games.

Flop XI of the IPL 2025 season:

Rachin Ravindra, Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant, Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Reddy, Liam Livingstone, Glenn Maxwell, MS Dhoni (C-WK), Rashid Khan, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami.
