The 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to get underway on March 22 with the clash between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. All 10 teams have confirmed their captains for the upcoming season with the Delhi Capitals’ announcement to make Axar Patel the leader of their squad.
Five teams have changed their captains from last season. Punjab Kings, RCB, KKR, Lucknow Super Giants, and DC have shown faith in new leaders for this season as they aim to lift the trophy on May 25 at the Eden Gardens. Remaining five teams - CSK, GT, MI, SRH and RR - have continued with old captains having retained them before the auction.
As far as the net worth of these captains is concerned, Pat Cummins, the SRH captain, is on top of this list. He is the face of Australian tourism and has endorsed multiple brands apart from earning a massive amount of Rs 18 crore this year in IPL. According to several reports, he is the richest Australian cricketer with the net worth of Rs 372 crore.
Interestingly, Cummins is the only foreign captain in IPL 2025. Among nine Indian captains, on expected lines, Rishabh Pant has the highest net worth of Rs 100 crore while the MI skipper Hardik Pandya follows him in the list with the net worth of Rs 91 crore.
RR captain Sanju Samson is next as his net worth, according to reports, is Rs 82 crore. Ajinkya Rahane might not be playing for India anymore but his net worth also totals a huge amount of Rs 80 crore. Among all 10 captains, Rajat Patidar earns the least - Rs 12 crore - but is expected to be the next superstar of Indian cricket.
