The game between Chennai and Kolkata went much deeper than it was anticipated. Kolkata was batting first, where none of the batters could score a fifty, but decent contributions from several took them to 179. Chennai was tottering at 60 for five but a Brevis show brought them out of another embarrassment and eventually they won by two wickets.
This match saw the first IPL fifty from Brevis, and that too having been scored off just 22 balls, making it one of the fastest fifties from a CSK batter this season. Although Vaibhav was smashed for a lot of runs, especially by Brevis, he took three wickets. The Player of the match was awarded to Noor Ahmed from Chennai for his exceptional spell of four for 31.
