The IPL resumed after an almost week-long break, with the last game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals being called off midway due to safety concerns. Amid a war-like situation at the borders, all the cities near the India-Pakistan border were put on high alert, and the IPL was postponed for a few days. A new schedule for the remaining matches was soon formed and released.
The clash between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Kolkata Knight Riders was scheduled as the first match after the week-long break. There was a lot of hype for this match, especially after fans wanted to give a tribute to Virat Kohli after taking test retirement, but rain played a spoilsport. The match was abandoned, so KKR was eliminated while RCB strengthened their position for the playoffs.
