The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) declared the schedule of the Indian Premier League 2025 on Sunday, February 16. The prestigious tournament is just around the corner as it will get underway on March 22.
The opening match of the tournament will feature three-time IPL winners and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders taking on Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Kolkata.
Two popular teams, RCB and KKR have faced each other 34 times. RCB have won the battle 14 times, while KKR have gotten the better of the Bengaluru side on 20 occasions. The two sides have played some memorable matches, including the one in which RCB registered their lowest IPL total of 49 against KKR in 2017.
KKR have been IPL champions three times, having won titles in 2012, 2014 and 2024. Their third title made them the third most successful team in the history of the Indian premier league after Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, both of who have won a record-equalling five times each.
Last year KKR defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets in a one sided-final. RCB had qualified for the playoffs but failed to win the eliminator against Rajasthan Royals in 2024.
KKR are yet to announce their captain for their title defence for 2025 edition and RCB had just appointed their new captain in the name of Rajat Patidar, who will be leading the team for the very first time. Rajat will look to make his mark in his very first edition as captain and will want to make RCB men’s team champions for the very first time.
RCB VS KKR first match– 22nd March in Kolkata at 7:30 PM IST.
RCB VS KKR second match- 17th May in Bengaluru at 7:30 PM IST.
