Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered a major setback in their last outing as they were handed a 10-wicket defeat by Gujarat Titans (GT) in Delhi. The loss pushed DC down to fifth place on the IPL 2025 points table with 13 points from 12 games and a net run rate of +0.260.

Despite the defeat, DC are still very much in the playoff race. With two league-stage games remaining, they will need to win both to secure a place in the top four and book their spot in the playoffs.

Their next fixture is a high-stakes clash against the Mumbai Indians (MI), scheduled to be played in Delhi on 21 May. MI are also firmly in the hunt for a playoff berth and currently sit in fourth place with 14 points from 12 games, with a net run rate of +1.156.

DC Probable XI 

Faf du Plessis, Abishek Porel, Sameer Rizvi, KL Rahul (wk), Axar Patel (capt), Tristan Stubbs, Ashutosh Sharma, Vipraj Nigam, T Natarajan, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman.

KL Rahul, who smashed an unbeaten century as an opener in that match, is likely to retain his place at the top of the order. He could once again open the innings alongside veteran Faf du Plessis.

Abishek Porel is expected to bat at number three, followed by Sameer Rizvi and captain Axar Patel. Tristan Stubbs and Ashutosh Sharma will add firepower in the middle and lower-middle order, while Vipraj Nigam is likely to retain his spot due to his all-round capabilities.

Among the bowlers, DC could go with a two-pacer attack comprising T. Natarajan and Mustafizur Rahman. Kuldeep Yadav will lead the spin department, with his experience and wicket-taking ability crucial at this stage. Dushmantha Chameera might be used once again as an Impact Substitute to bolster the pace attack if needed.
