The IPL 2025 has not gone as planned for the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), as they are currently struggling at number seven in the points table with just six points after eight games, with a net run rate of +0.212. 

Now, to stay alive in the race for the playoffs, the easiest solution for them is to win all the remaining matches. So that they can reach the 18-point mark, which could take them to the playoffs. 

But for that, they need to get back to winning ways, starting with their next match against the in-form Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 26 April 2025.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane (capt), Venkatesh Iyer, Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, Moeen Ali, Vaibhav Arora, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy.

The same playing XI that was used in their last game against the Gujarat Titans (GT) is expected to take the field once again. Although they lost that game, in this upcoming clash, they need to step up their performance to be on the winning side. 

Dropping Gurbaz after just a single chance would be harsh on the player, and hence, he is expected to open the innings with Sunil Narine. Then, skipper Ajinkya Rahane at number three, followed by Venkatesh Iyer. Next will be the power-hitting trio of Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, and Ramandeep Singh.

Moeen Ali, along with Varun Chakaravarthy and Narine, will be the three spin-bowling options for them, while the pace-bowling duo will be Vaibhav Arora and Harshit Rana. As an impact player, it is highly expected that Angkrish Raghuvanshi might get a chance, as he has been getting so far this season.
