Mumbai Indians (MI) had an impressive campaign in IPL 2025. They finished fourth in the group stage and qualified for the Eliminator, where they comfortably defeated the Gujarat Titans (GT) to move into Qualifier Two. However, their journey ended there as the Punjab Kings (PBKS) knocked them out of the tournament.

Throughout the season, several key players stepped up and performed well for the team at crucial moments. But a few players could not make an impact when given chances. Those underperformers could now find themselves on the release list as MI prepares for IPL 2026, and the mini-auction is reportedly to happen in Abu Dhabi in mid-December 2025.

Here are three MI players who might be released ahead of the mini-auction

1. Richard Gleeson

England’s pace-bowling all-rounder Richard Gleeson played just one match in IPL 2025. In that game, he gave away 39 runs in 3.3 overs and picked up one wicket. With the bat, he did not get a chance to contribute.

Despite being part of the squad, MI did not use him again during the season. Considering the other options available, the franchise might release him before the next season and look for a more experienced and dependable all-rounder with stronger international credentials.

2. Raj Bawa

Raj Angad Bawa, considered one of India’s exciting young all-rounders, was expected to impress MI fans in IPL 2025. However, he could not make much of an impact in the limited chances he got.

In three matches, Bawa batted only once, scoring an unbeaten eight runs, and did not bowl a single over. With little contribution to show, MI may look to release the 23-year-old ahead of IPL 2026 and bring in a more consistent Indian all-rounder to add balance to their squad.

3. Robin Minz

Wicketkeeper-batter Robin Minz made headlines when MI signed him, becoming the first tribal cricketer to play in the IPL. Known for his attacking batting, expectations were high. But in the two matches he played, Minz managed only six runs.

Given his limited returns, MI might look to replace him with a more experienced wicketkeeper-batter who has already proven himself in the domestic circuit. Such an addition would strengthen their bench and provide more reliability going forward.
