Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were the runners-up in IPL 2024, and naturally, they entered the 2025 edition as one of the top contenders. However, things did not go their way this time, as the team failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished sixth on the table with 13 points from 14 matches.

Several players struggled to perform consistently, leaving fans disappointed with their form. As a result, a few of them are likely to be released before IPL 2026. Therefore, all eyes will be on the upcoming mini-auction, reportedly scheduled in Abu Dhabi in mid-December 2025.

Here are three players SRH might release ahead of the mini-auction

1. Mohammed Shami

India’s veteran pacer Mohammed Shami could not find his rhythm in IPL 2025. In nine matches, he took only six wickets while conceding runs at an economy rate of 11.23. In recent months, concerns about his fitness have also arisen. Despite playing regularly in the domestic circuit, he was not considered for recent India assignments.

Although he continues to feature in the Ranji Trophy for Bengal, he still appears far from a national team comeback. Given his fitness issues and age, SRH might take the bold step of releasing the experienced seamer and look for a younger Indian fast bowler who can bring more pace and energy to their attack.

2. Simarjeet Singh

Another pacer who failed to make an impact for SRH last season was Simarjeet Singh. Across four matches, he picked up only two wickets while conceding 141 runs in 10 overs, ending with an economy rate of 14.10.

With the bat, he could not contribute either, scoring just three runs in three innings. Despite the opportunities given to him, Simarjeet struggled to leave a mark with both bat and ball. Hence, ahead of IPL 2026, SRH might look to release him and explore stronger bowling options to improve their squad balance.

3. Adam Zampa

Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa came into IPL 2025 with high expectations, having shown steady progress in white-ball cricket over the years. However, his season with SRH was underwhelming.

He managed only two wickets in two matches while conceding 94 runs in eight overs, finishing with an economy rate of 11.75. Considering the other overseas players available to SRH, the franchise is likely to release Zampa ahead of the 2026 season and look for a more effective spin option.
