Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) were the runners-up in IPL 2024. Naturally, in the 2025 edition, they were one of the top teams to watch out for. But things didn’t go as planned, as SRH failed to qualify for the playoffs and finished sixth with 13 points from 14 games.
Several players underperformed and left fans disappointed with their form. As a result, some of them are likely to be released ahead of IPL 2026.
Here are the 5 SRH Players who might be released ahead of the mini auction
1. Mohammed Shami
Team India pacer Mohammed Shami failed to showcase his form in the last season. In nine matches, he managed just six wickets at an economy of 11.23. In recent times, questions have also been raised about his fitness. He even missed out on a place in the recently announced Asia Cup squad for India.
Although he is currently playing in the Duleep Trophy for East Zone, he failed to make much impact in the first match. Considering the fitness concerns, his age, and the lack of effectiveness in recent times, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) might take the bold call to release the veteran pacer in search of a younger Indian fast bowler.
2. Simarjeet Singh
Another pacer who failed to deliver for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) last season was Simarjeet Singh. In the four matches he played, Simarjeet picked up only two wickets while conceding 141 runs in 10 overs, finishing with an economy rate of 14.10.
With the bat too, he was unable to contribute. In three innings, he managed to score just three runs. The faith shown by SRH in handing him opportunities did not pay off, as he failed to make an impact with either bat or ball. As a result, ahead of the upcoming season, SRH may look to release him and explore better options in their squad.
3. Rahul Chahar
This Indian leg-spinner did not get enough chances in IPL 2025. Rahul Chahar featured in only one game for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) but went wicketless. He bowled only one over.
Despite his prior IPL experience, SRH appeared to place more trust in other spinners like Harsh Dubey and Zeeshan Ansari. This suggested that the franchise lacked confidence in considering Chahar as a regular option. As a result, ahead of the 2026 season, Rahul Chahar might be among the players released by SRH.
4. Adam Zampa
Expectations were high for Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa, especially given his steady improvement in white-ball cricket in recent years. However, in IPL 2025, he failed to deliver for SRH.
Zampa managed only two wickets in two games while conceding 94 runs in eight overs, finishing with an economy rate of 11.75. Considering SRH’s other overseas options, the franchise is most likely to release him ahead of the 2026 season.
5. Wiaan Mulder
This South African all-rounder could have been a handy option for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). But once again, he struggled to get game time in IPL 2025.
Wiaan Mulder featured in just one match, where he bowled a single over and conceded 16 runs without taking a wicket. With the bat, he managed only nine runs. The lack of opportunities clearly showed the franchise’s limited trust in him, and if an opening arises, Mulder is most likely to be released ahead of the next season.
