“It was very, very scary” - IPL cheerleader after PBKS vs DC game gets cancelled

The IPL 2025 contest between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals was canceled on Thursday, May 8, due to a technical failure at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.

At the time of the stoppage, Punjab Kings were 122/1 in 10.1 overs, just when floodlights turned off, resulting in the abrupt stoppage of the game. Notably, the contest started later than scheduled due to steady rainfall at the venue during the toss time.

Moreover, after the game was stopped, teams and fans present at the venue were quickly evacuated from the stadium. It’s important to note that close to 25,000 people were witnessing the contest and were asked to move out of the venue.

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal also opened up on the situation, stating that some incidents in the Jammu region were the reason behind the game ending in a no-result. 

"Yes, the match has been called off as a precautionary step, because there are some incidents which happened in Jammu (where India intercepted missile strikes from Pakistan), I believe. That's what we got to know, so we thought it's wise to call off the game," IPL chairman Arun Dhumal told IANS from Dharamshala.

On the other hand, an IPL cheerleader, who was present at the venue during the contest, posted a video on a social media platform, stating that things were very scary and fans were asked to leave the venue.

"The whole stadium, in the middle of the game, was evacuated. It was very scary. Everyone was screaming that there were bombs coming. It still is very scary. We really want to go out of Dharamsala. I hope IPL people are going to look after us. I don't know why I'm not crying; maybe I'm still in shock about what is happening," she said in the viral video.
