The International Cricket Council has given Aimee Maguire permission to start bowling in international cricket again, effective immediately. Earlier this year, in January, the 18-year-old left-arm spinner received a bowling suspension. This came after reports surfaced about Maguire's bowling action during the January 10 first ODI of the three-match series against India Women in Rajkot. According to the ICC's Illegal Bowling Regulations, her activity was scrutinised.

Following the ICC's Illegal Bowling Regulations, she was barred from bowling in international matches after the report was released. Maguire has since changed her course of action and had a separate reevaluation at a testing facility authorised by the ICC. She had remodelled her action, and the reassessment indicated that the degree of bend in her arm was within the ICC's limit, according to a news release issued by the worldwide administrative body.

Ireland Spinner Aimee Maguire Big Comeback:

In a statement, ICC said, "The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced that following remedial work and re-assessment, the bowling action of Ireland spinner Aimee Maguire has been found to be legal, and she can resume bowling in international cricket."

An independent evaluation of Maguire's modified bowling motion at an ICC-accredited testing facility found that the elbow extension was within the 15-degree tolerance allowed by the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations, the world governing body of cricket added.

Maguire will therefore be permitted to return to bowling in international cricket. Maguire has 20 matches for Ireland and has taken 25 wickets in all forms since making her debut for the country in 2023. She is not included in Ireland's team for Wednesday's start of their three-match T20 series against Pakistan in Dublin.

Ireland's 14-member team: Freya Sargent, Ava Canning, Cara Murray, Lara McBride, Louise Little, Ava Canning, Leah Paul, Cara Murray, Amy Hunter (wk), Rebecca Stokell, Christina Coulter Reilly, Laura Delany, Orla Prendergast, Gaby Lewis (c).
