On Thursday, December 5, Ireland Women and Bangladesh Women faced off in the opening Twenty20 International of their three-match series at the Sylhet Stadium in Sylhet. Gaby Lewis, the captain of Ireland, made the right decision at the toss and chose to bat first.
After dismissing opener Amy Hunter for just ten runs, the hosts got off to a strong start. Lewis, meanwhile, was hitting boundaries at will and appeared to be in fantastic form. The foundation of the Irish innings was her 107-run combination with Leah Paul.

The Bangla Tigresses got off to a strong start in the chase thanks to a strong 103-run partnership between openers Dilara Akter and Sobhana Mostary, which put the team in a strong position to pursue the objective. However, the Irish bowlers rallied the team after being hit for 11 overs by dismissing Akter for 49 and Mostary for 46. The team was headed in the right direction even after their dismissals, but they quickly lost their middle order when Taj Nehar and Sharmin Akhter both contributed 19 and 23 runs.
