Delhi Capitals pacer Mitchell Starc was surprised to see the Rajasthan Royals sending the left-handed batter coming in for the Super Over, which helped the speedster with his angle to tail back the ball.
Interestingly, Starc was awarded the player of the match after the Capitals bagged a nail-biting Super Over victory over the Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Wednesday, April 16.
(On RR's choice of batters for the Super Over) It was a bit of a surprise to see left-handers come in with my angle as the ball was tailing back in. Got one wrong there with the side line no-ball, but we had the batting depth then to chase that down," Starc said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Moving into the details of the game, Delhi Capitals batted first, posting a dominating total of 188/5 in 20 overs. Abishek Porel was the top scorer with 49 runs off 37 balls with five fours and a six, while Jofra Archer picked up two crucial wickets.
In the chase, RR also interestingly levelled the scores with 188/4 in 20 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Nitish Rana scored 51 runs apiece. Mitchell Starc was simply impressive in the death overs, giving away only eight runs in the final over.
"(On the final over) Just backed my execution, running in with a clear plan. Sometimes it comes off; a bit of luck goes a long way. It was a fantastic game, happy to get on the right side. I've played long enough for everyone to know what I'd do, but if I execute, then I know I'll get by. A bit of luck goes a long way,” Starc stated.
In the Super Over, Rajasthan Royals scored 11 runs after getting all out in five balls. Later, Delhi Capitals batters KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs sealed the game in four balls without losing a wicket.
