Team India bowling all-rounder Shardul Thakur has recalled India’s tour of England in 2021-22, when India won a couple of games at the Lord’s and The Oval, had created a lot of memories for him and termed it one of the best series he was part of in his career.
With Shardul likely to be a part of the Indian Test XI for the first Test against England in the upcoming five-match Test series, he stated his excitement to take up a different challenge of playing in tough conditions.
"I think the '21 series where we won a couple of games. The first one also we could've won but unfortunately, it rained on the last day and we couldn't chase down the total. But then, we won at Lord's, then we won at The Oval and then we came back for the fifth Test next year. The series was level but that was one of the fondest memories for me, one of the best Test series that I've been part of," Shardul Thakur told bcci.tv.
"I think it's very exciting to play in this part of the world where you face different challenges. The first one of course is the weather. Sometimes it's cloudy, sometimes it's bright and sunny and as a player you need to make adjustments to your game whether you are batting or bowling," Shardul added
Furthermore, Shardul asserted that it’s always refreshing to play alongside young talent that’s cropping up. Moreover, he added that since England is taking up the Bazball aggressive approach, he is keen to show what the Indian team is up to.
"It's good to have that fresh energy in the team. Few youngsters are coming up and new talents are always exciting. Now that the England team is also playing a different kind of cricket, you would like to surprise them also that we are here to put up a show. And it's always great to win away series. If we could achieve this feat, it would be massive for the entire nation," he observed.
Shifting our focus to the details of the five-match Test series against England, the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy will commence on Friday, June 20 at Headingley, Leeds. Later, the action shifts to Edgbaston from July 2, Lord’s from July 10, Old Trafford in Manchester from July 23, and The Oval from July 31.
