Jasprit Bumrah confirms availability for India's Asia Cup squad: Report

India's speed star Jasprit Bumrah has given the national team a huge boost ahead of the important competition by confirming that he will be available for the upcoming Asia Cup in Dubai. Bumrah recently told selectors that he is prepared to play again and has indicated his fitness status, according to BCCI sources.

The 31-year-old pace spearhead reportedly confirmed to the selectors a few days ago that he is healthy and ready to play at the event, where the Men in Blue may play their bitter rivals Pakistan three times, including in the championship match, according to a story on The Indian Express.

Bumrah hasn't played white ball cricket for India since the T20 World Cup final. He got 15 wickets in the most recent T20 World Cup, which helped India win their second title, and he played a key role in Rohit Sharma's team's victory over South Africa in the final at Bridgetown, Barbados.

After the great pacer missed two games in the previous five-Test series in England, there has been much discussion recently about Bumrah's workload and fitness. When the Asia Cup returns to the T20 format this year, the 31-year-old speedster is unlikely to experience fitness problems because he will only bowl a maximum of four overs.

Even though he has performed exceptionally well in all formats, India will really need the right-arm bowler during the Asia Cup's Twenty20 matches. In the game's shortest format, Bumrah excels because of his ability to remain economical while taking vital wickets.

For the event in Dubai, a 15-man squad will be chosen by the BCCI selectors, which is chaired by Ajit Agarkar. The meeting to choose India's team for the T20 event is scheduled for August 19 in Mumbai. Remarkably, Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of the T20I team, will also attend the meeting.
