Indian in-form opening batter Sanju Samson has dedicated his Player of the Match award to the Indian ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah for turning the game towards India in England’s 254-run chase at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

In the semi-final, India was tasked to bat first, and they returned with a daunting total of 253/7 in 20 overs, courtesy of Samson's 89 and Shivam Dube's 43. Will Jacks and Adil Rashid scalped two wickets apiece.

In the second innings, despite losing wickets, England looked in complete control of the chase, courtesy of Jacob Bethell’s amazing century. However, it was Bumrah’s last two overs of his spell that turned the game towards India as they bagged a thrilling seven-run win.

“All credit goes to Jasprit Bumrah, the world class bowler, once in a generation bowler. I think that's what he delivered today. This award should go to him actually. If we didn't bowl that way in the death overs, I think I would not be standing here. All credit goes to the bowlers, how they backed themselves in the tough conditions,” Sanju Samson said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Moreover, Samson also opened up on missing out on two consecutive centuries in the games against the West Indies and England. Notably, Samson secured two consecutive player of the match awards.

“I think not at all. 100, you can't actually score a hundred. It actually comes in the process. It's not a Test game, it's not an ODI game where you can go up and down, up and down. Once you've got the start, you're batting first. There is no other way. You just have to keep going hard, hard, hard. And once you end up on the right side, who knows, I think, which amount of runs I'm getting. So I'm very happy to get whatever I'm getting and very happy to contribute on the winning side for my country,” he added.
