Indian middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues has revealed that she uninstalled WhatsApp from her mobile after her exceptional unbeaten 127-run knock in the semi-final against Australia, propelling India to an improbable win, advancing to the final of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 Final in Navi Mumbai.

Speaking exclusively to Cricbuzz, Jemimah went on to disclose that her phone “kept buzzing and buzzing” after the semi-final, with congratulatory calls coming from every direction. She went on to add that random people started getting her number, which she couldn’t take hold of.

"I don't know how random people started getting my number. I'm not even over-exaggerating, but I had 1000 WhatsApp messages. I couldn't take it because firstly, a lot had happened in that game. A lot of my emotions itself were there. I'm preparing for a final and the tournament is not over. Yes, I played a knock. Yes, we won. Yes, India was in the final. But, we still had a World Cup final to win," Jemimah told Cricbuzz.

"Even if I was not reading the message, it was just buzzing. And I just knew that people were messaging me and I just wanted to prepare for the finals. So, till the finals, I didn't install WhatsApp." she added.

“I've never seen such a sight, even till now, just randomly scrolling Instagram and suddenly my video or something comes up. Or someone is talking about me,” she concluded.

While Jemimah initiated the World Cup campaign with a duck against Sri Lanka Women, she scored 32 runs against Pakistan Women in Colombo. Later, she bagged another duck against South Africa Women. In the next game against Australia, she scored 33 runs before being axed for the game against England Women.

Nevertheless, she made a strong comeback against New Zealand Women as she scored an unbeaten 76-run knock in Navi Mumbai. In the semi-final, she had put up the best knock of her career, scoring 127* against Australia Women.
