South African star all-rounder Marizanne Kapp, who is all set to represent the Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 season, has heaped praise on her skipper Jemimah Rodrigues ahead of the upcoming season.
Notably, Jemimah has replaced Meg Lanning as the skipper of the Delhi Capitals franchise, while Lanning is set to lead the UP Warriorz franchise in the WPL 2026 season. Notably, Jemimah has leadership experience at the state level for Mumbai.
"I actually said a couple of years ago that Jemimah should be India's next captain. She's always been a leader. Her personality, the way she brings people together, the caring factor, that all matters. Even experienced captains face challenges. Jemimah has a lot of senior players around her, and I think she'll take this opportunity with both hands,” Kapp said in an interview with Cricbuzz.
Furthermore, Kapp also stated that the Capitals' losing Meg Lanning’s services would be a huge setback ahead of the season. For the unversed, Lanning propelled the Capitals to three consecutive WPL finals, ending as runners-up on all three instances.
"Losing Meg as a captain is obviously a big thing. She's a very successful captain, not only for DC but in world cricket in general," she added.
Speaking about Jemimah's WPL numbers, she has played 24 games, scoring 507 runs at an average of 28.17 with three half-centuries and the best score of an unbeaten 69-run knock. In T20Is, Jemimah has played 115 games, scoring 2479 runs at an average of 30.60 with 14 half-centuries at a strike rate of 117.32.
