Jos Buttler can experience the pain of an away Ashes without being in the dressing room. There was a familiar thud to England's 4-1 loss in Australia. Buttler's response, however, was not a pile-on. It served as a reminder that the post-mortem must be truthful and helpful because the next cycle begins before the bruises go away.

The batter described the visitors' five-Test Ashes series defeat by 4-1 as a "disappointing" and "frustrating campaign." Many former players and England supporters believed that this was the best Ashes 2025 team in recent memory before the tour. But the terrible performance that the English players had throughout the series demoralised them.

Jos Comments on Ashes 2025:

England's series took a turn for the worse early on and never quite recovered. Every choice, including preparation, selection, and even the optics surrounding downtime, was subject to re-litigation following three losses in just eleven days of cricket. Buttler's argument was straightforward: everything is brought into the light when you lose.

Sky Sports stated Jos Butler saying, “I think we all thought this was the time this team going to Australia would have a real, genuine chance of winning. I think when you don’t get the results that you crave, it’s very easy to point fingers at certain things. Your preparation, your planning, a lot of stuff your hands will be tied.”

He further added, “I think they’ll just take a bit of time to review it. I know Ben Stokes pretty well. I played a lot of cricket with him growing up, and his determination and desire and passion to lead that team forward, improve and take them to be the number one Test team in the world, which is where he will want to take them, will be stronger than ever after this tour."
