KL Rahul reminds us of Rahul Dravid: Harbhajan Singh

Former Indian spinner and commentator Harbhajan Singh has opened up on Indian batters KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant, scoring runs in the third innings for Team India. Notably, Men In Blue suffered a five-wicket loss to England in the Leeds Test to start the Test series 0-1.

While the Indian opening batter KL Rahul scored 42 runs in the first innings, he went on to score 137 runs in the second innings. Bhajji compared Rahul’s knock to the former legendary Indian batter Rahul Dravid.

"We must praise KL Rahul as well. Calm, composed, solid defense. Solid player who has the game. He knows how to run the game according to the conditions. The first hour, he left the ball, played it close to the body, and played some drives as well. He reminds us of Rahul Dravid. Brilliant hundred," Harbhajan Singh said on his YouTube channel.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant went on to smash twin centuries in the Leeds Test, emerging as the first Indian batter to do so in a Test in England. While he scored 134 runs in the first innings, he scored 118 runs in the second innings.

"Pant showed his class with back-to-back centuries. Rishabh Pant is back in form. It does not matter how the IPL went, but it matters when you play for India. I am very happy the way he kept his form and batted with responsibility," he added.

India tasked England with a 371-run target in the fourth innings. Opening the innings, Zak Crawley (65) and Ben Duckett (149) stitched a 188-run opening partnership. Later, Joe Root (53*), Ben Stokes (33) and Jamie Smith (44*) propelled their side over the line with five wickets in hand in 82 overs.

Team India will next play the second Test against England, starting on Wednesday, July 2 at Edgbaston, in Birmingham.
