“He’s very rude to me” - KL Rahul reveals hilarious banter with Kevin Pietersen’s wife

In the 2025 Indian Premier League season, star Indian cricketer KL Rahul made his debut for the Delhi Capitals. He was in the same dressing room as former English cricket player Kevin Pietersen, who served as a mentor for the team. Throughout, the two had a great time joking about, and their friendship was evident on TV.

This was the fifth franchise for KL Rahul in the IPL. He made his DC debut a bit late as he welcomed his first child with wife Athiya Shetty. But he proved to be DC’s best batter, scoring 539 runs across 13 matches at an average of 53.90, also tallying for a couple of centuries and as many half-centuries as well.

Even a monk's nerves may be tested by Rahul's calm and patient batting, and occasionally the bowlers' as well. Rahul's outbursts of anger on the field are extremely rare.  

Rahul exudes a tranquil atmosphere even when he's not on the field, but every time Kevin Pietersen enters the picture, that storyline takes a comic turn. Rahul's lighter, cheekier side was mysteriously shown by the English legend, and fans witnessed some amusing moments during IPL 2025.

As the duo share a good bond, KL Rahul once complained to Pietersen’s wife. Speaking on the 2 Sloggers YouTube channel, Rahul revealed the hilarious story.

“Our banter is different. He is a great sport. He gives it to you as well. There was this video, and there were two or three times when I said something and DC posted it on the Instagram page. So, my wife was telling me, ‘Why are you being so mean? He is such a sweet guy,” KL Rahul said during a conversation on the 2 Sloggers YouTube channel.

“I said, ‘Half the things that he does to me and tells me don’t come out on the internet.’ This is three times that I have given after 100 times he has been after my life. I complained to his wife when we were in the UK. They invited me for dinner, and I said, ‘Tell your husband to go easy on me. He is very rude to me,'” said Rahul.

KL Rahul had a mild outing in the Australia ODIs, scoring 49 runs in two games. He’ll be seen in action against South Africa at home in the two tests and three ODIs in November-December.
