Former Indian cricketer and analyst Kris Srikkanth has taken a big U-turn and went on to heap praises on the Indian pacer Harshit Rana, who pocketed a four-wicket haul in the Sydney ODI to help India to a consolation win on Saturday, October 25.
Speaking exclusively on his YouTube channel, the former Indian cricketer asserted that he loved the way Rana had set up Mitchell Owen in the slips as the finisher was packed up for only one run off four balls.
“Harshit Rana bowled superbly. Taking four wickets in an ODI is a big achievement. My favourite was the wicket of Owen. It was a superb delivery and Rohit took a great catch," Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel.
“He (Rana) bowled a terrific line and length. Last match, he got clobbered at the death, but this game, he bowled very well even at the death. He did not bowl short today and did not try too many slower ones,” he added.
“So today, Harshit Rana deserves all the praise. I am very happy for you. Yes, I criticised you a lot, but at the end of the day, you have done very well. He has got his confidence back from the last match after scoring with the bat and from his first spell with the ball," Srikkanth concluded.
Earlier during the Asia Cup 2025 campaign, the former Indian cricketer had lashed out at Rana for being a yes-man to the Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir and called him a permanent member of the Indian team.
“Be a Yes-Man to Gambhir. There is only one permanent member – Harshit Rana. Nobody knows why he is there in the team. You don’t pick some players even if they do well and take others even if they don’t,” Srikkanth had said on his YouTube channel.
