Former Indian chairman of selectors Kris Srikkanth has picked India, England, South Africa and Australia to make it to the top four in the forthcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026 campaign, scheduled to start on Saturday, February 7, in India and Sri Lanka.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the former cricketer admitted that Australia has good enough firepower in their batting line-up, but they lack experience in their bowling after Mitchell Starc’s retirement and Pat Cummins back injury. Moreover, Josh Hazlewood is expected to miss a major part of the campaign due to an Achilles injury.

“I think India, England, South Africa and Australia will play the semifinals. I think the finals should be between India and Australia. They will be the closest competitor to India. If these two play the final, it will be deadly," he said on his YouTube channel.

“Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Tim David, Maxwell and Green. If any two of these five get going, they have a powerhouse batting just like India, in all fairness. But there is no scope in their bowling," Srikkanth added.

“Having many all-rounders is their biggest advantage. But with no Hazlewood, all the others will get hit in India. Zampa and Hazlewood are brilliant. There is no one else who is a gun bowler," he observed.

Furthermore, the former selector also lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for their government’s decision to boycott the India group stage fixture in the mega event, calling the Pakistan team scard to take on India.

"Empty vessels make more noise. Pakistan are scared. Now, in the U19 World Cup also they lost. So they are thinking of giving a walkover. Whether they play or not, the game is anyway a walkover for India. It does not matter if they come or not. Asia Cup, they played all the games against India," he concluded.
