Michael Hussey names the toughest bowlers he faced in his career

Former Australian batter Michael Hussey, often known as Mr Cricket, recently revealed the hardest bowler he had ever faced. One of the most difficult opponents he faced was the legendary South African pace player Dale Steyn, and Hussey remembered an incident so horrible that he genuinely feared for his life.

Hussey recalls that two bowlers who caused him trouble during his cricket career were Muttiah Muralitharan and Steyn. He continued talking about the Steyn incident, admitting that it was the only time he had truly lost it while playing cricket.

Many elite batters throughout the world, including Hussey, have had restless nights due to the right-arm fast bowler. Recently, the 36-year-old Proteas cricket player said goodbye to Test cricket. Steyn had to abandon the red-ball format because he was having a lot of injuries. In an effort to compete in the 2023 World Cup, he will now focus more on restricted overs.

Hussey recalls the event that occurred during Australia's second Test match against South Africa in 2009 at Kingsmead in Durban. The pitch's considerable bounce was making it difficult for the hitters, while Mitchell Johnson was causing problems for Australia by injuring Jacques Kallis and breaking Graeme Smith's hand.

“Dale Steyn called out to the captain just now. He says, “Skip it.” Give the ball to me. I don’t want to get him out. All I want is to murder him. I thought to myself, “Oh, this is going to be fun.” In fact, he simply entered the game and bowled bouncer after bouncer. And I’m turning and ducking. I got smacked on the grill. I was struck under my armpits and on my shoulder.

In fact, I could feel the blood rising through my legs. Oh crap, I’m lost here, I thought. Another bouncer passes by, as expected. I just said, Dale Steyn, and he walks down and says that."

In 93 Test matches, Dale Steyn has taken 439 wickets at an average of 22.95. In this version of the game, South Africa's top wicket-taker is the gun fast bowler. Steyn has caused a lot of problems for the batsmen during his prime by swinging the ball both ways with express pace.
