Following India's historic victory in the 2026 U19 World Cup, former England captain Michael Vaughan made fun of the team. The Asian powerhouses won their sixth U19 World Cup after defeating England U19 by 100 runs in the final.

After winning the toss, India U19 captain Ayush Mhatre decided to bat first. Mhatre scored 53 off 51 balls as he and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi shared 142 runs for the second wicket after Aaron George was down for 9.

Sooryavanshi then dominated the England attack, reaching 150 in 71 deliveries and hitting his century in just 55 balls, sharing an 89-run partnership with Vedant Trivedi.

India quickly reached 251/3 in 25 overs thanks to Sooryavanshi's incredible 175 off 80 balls, which included 15 fours and 15 sixes. Later, England came back, holding India to 411/9 in 50 overs. The final total was increased by Abhigyan Kundu (40) and Kanishk Chouhan (37* off 20).

Ben Dawkins (66), Ben Mayes (44), and Thomas Rew (31), in turn, contributed to England U19's reply, while Caleb Falconer made an impressive 115 off 67 balls. Nevertheless, England was bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs, ending the pursuit. Kanishk Chouhan and Deepesh Devendran each took two wickets as RS Ambrish claimed 3/56.

Michael Vaughan brings down Harsha Bhogle’s joy with a valid question

Harsha Bhogle was joyous seeing Indian team doing so well across formats in both men’s and women’s cricket. Bhogle wrote on his X account after the triumph that India had won the world championship and finished second in practically every major ICC white-ball event.

T20 World Cup champions Women's World Cup champions U19 World Cup champions. World Cup runners-up. Indian cricket is in a very good place,” he posted on X.

Vaughan bought down Bhogle’s joy by pointing out India’s poor run in Test cricket and asked: "What about Test cricket?"

After being thrashed 0–3 at home by New Zealand in 2024, India recently lost a 0–2 home Test series to South Africa. Additionally, for the first time in the tournament's history, India did not advance to the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) final.
