During a post-match news conference in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammed Nabi did not back down when a reporter attempted to involve him in the ongoing Mustafizur-KKR IPL issue. Nabi was addressing the media following the Noakhali Express's BPL match against the Dhaka Capitals when the event occurred. He was then questioned by a reporter from Bangladesh about the current controversy surrounding Mustafizur's exit from the IPL before the 2026 season.
As instructed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), KKR dropped Mustafizur from their IPL 2026 roster. A Bangladeshi reporter questioned Nabi about the scandal during a press conference, even though KKR and Mustafizur had been the subject of much discussion and writing. Currently playing for Noakhali Express in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), Nabi lost his temper with the journalist and claimed he had nothing to do with the situation.

When questioned about Mustafizur Rahman’s IPL release, Nabi lost his temper and blasted the reporter for unnecessary comments.🥶 pic.twitter.com/7GSRzdOTk1
He said, "Iska merese kya lena dena bhai. Mera Mustafizur se kya kaam hai? Politics me kya kaam hai mera? I know he is a good bowler, all these things. But the way you are questioning, it's not related to me."
The 30-year-old attracted a lot of attention when KKR bought him at the December mini-auction for a record Rs 9.20 crore, making him the highest-paid Bangladeshi cricket player in IPL history. In the midst of a violent bidding battle between the Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings, he was acquired for a starting bid of Rs 2 crore.
Since making his IPL debut with Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016, the 30-year-old cricketer has taken 65 wickets in 60 games while keeping an economy rate of 8.13. He has played for a number of teams, including the Chennai Super Kings in 2024, Delhi Capitals in 2022–2023, Rajasthan Royals in 2021, and Mumbai Indians in 2018.
