Former Indian all-rounder and commentator Irfan Pathan has slammed the current Pakistani team after their defeat to India by seven wickets in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025 campaign on Sunday, September 14, in Dubai.

Speaking exclusively on Sony Sports Network, Pathan has asserted that Indian domestic teams like the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings can defeat the current Pakistani team, led by Salman Ali Agha, quite convincingly.

“If you ask which of our domestic teams can beat Pakistan, I know for sure Mumbai can beat them. Punjab can beat them. Next, which IPL team can beat Pakistan? A lot of them,” said Irfan on Sony Sports Network.

On the other hand, the former Indian assistant coach Abhishek Nayar also observed that the Indian team completely dominated the opposition right from the toss, adding that Pakistan were not in the competition at all.

“We were thinking about how to build up the game. Pakistan came with spinners and did not have fast bowlers. Their bowling was different, but there was no actual difference. From the start to the end, after winning the toss and batting first to the chase, Pakistan were not in the competition at all. If India were playing versus India, and it was more of a practice match for the future,” said Nayar.

After winning the toss, Pakistan opted to bat first. However, they could score only 127/9 in 20 overs. Kuldeep Yadav was the star bowler with a three-wicket haul while Axar Patel and Jasprit Bumrah picked up two wickets each.

In response, India took only 15.5 overs to finish off the game with seven wickets in hand. Suraykumar was the star batter, accumulating an unbeaten 47-run knock off 37 balls, while Abhishek Sharma scored 31 runs in 13 balls. Middle-order batter Tilak Varma also shone with a 31-run knock.
