OCA Announces Odisha Pro T20 League Inaugural Season to Kick-Start in September

The Odisha Pro T20 League, a franchise-based T20 competition with six clubs, will begin play in September, the Odisha Cricket Association announced on Sunday.

The Odisha Pro T20 League (OPTL), a franchise-based T20 competition with six participating teams scheduled to debut in September, was announced by the Odisha Cricket Association on Sunday, July 6. By giving players intense competition, widespread exposure, and the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities among some of the finest in the sport, the OPTL hopes to become a leading platform for developing up-and-coming talent.

According to OCA, the OPTL is intended to be a top platform for developing young talent by providing players with intense competition, extensive publicity, and the chance to demonstrate their abilities next to some of the sport's top players. Sanjay Behera, the secretary of OCA, said in a statement,“The Odisha Pro T20 League marks a transformative step in the journey of cricket in our state. With top-tier talent and professional execution, we are confident this league will become a major force in Indian domestic cricket. Odisha, as a State, has been contributing significantly to developing multiple sports, and now it’s time for cricket."

Odisha Pro T20 League Kicks Off in September:

The state association has sent an invitation to groups to take part in the franchise ownership process as part of the league's launch. From July 7–13, the official OCA website will host the Expression of Interest (EOI) and other procedures pertaining to the paperwork required to obtain franchise rights.

A merit-based selection procedure would be used to assign franchises, with an emphasis on long-term planning and dedication to the growth of cricket in Odisha. Ahead of the league's first edition, the OCA has teamed up with a seasoned company to serve as its management partner. The partner has a proven track record, having run comparable competitions in Saurashtra, Vidarbha, and Bengal.
