Many stories about Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal's split have surfaced in the wake of the controversy surrounding their postponed wedding.

Palash has been accused of cheating on Mandhana in a number of accusations, which he has consistently refuted. But in a startling turn of events, the composer has suddenly removed any evidence of his long-term girlfriend from his Instagram account, indicating a growing distance between the two.

Fans first became aware of the shift on Sunday when Muchhal's feed, which had previously been filled with encouraging comments and loving pictures of the couple, abruptly changed. Many have seen the total erasure of their shared memories as a clear indication of a breakup for a couple that had just celebrated five years of being together.

More than a dozen images, including holiday and birthday tributes, have been removed from his profile. In addition to their deleted digital traces, the two are no longer following one another on the platform.

Neither Smriti Mandhana nor Palash Muchhal have made an official announcement about their relationship status as of yet. Even though they were on the verge of getting married in November, none of them has given a public explanation for why their engagement ended.

The catalyst for this latest Instagram wipeout appears to be the unverified cheating rumours spreading like wildfire across social media. It was also recently revealed by  Mandhana’s close friend that Palash was caught cheating on her by several other Indian female cricketers, who were there for the wedding and the composer was beat up by them.

Mandhana, a global cricket star and vice-captain of the Indian women's national team, has always kept a low profile when it comes to her personal life. A unique window into her life off the field was provided by her friendship with Palash, the brother of singer Palak Muchhal.

It's unclear if this is the last phase of their five-year adventure or just a brief fallout. However, a cleared feed frequently indicates the end of the line in the high-stakes realm of public romance.
