PCB announces limited-overs squads; Babar Azam returns to T20I squad

On Friday, October 23, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the limited-overs squads for the South Africa series as well as the tri-series, involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, later next month.

Interestingly, Babar Azam, who missed out on the T20I squad for more than a year, has finally made his comeback to the Pakistan T20I squad for the forthcoming series. However, Haris Rauf and Fakhar Zaman have been dropped from the T20I Squad

Moreover, the star pacer Naseem Shah has returned to the T20I squad, and Usman Tariq, a 24-year-old spinner, has received his maiden call-up in the squad. Moreover, Mohammad Haris has been replaced by Usman Khan, and Abdul Samad has returned to the T20I team.

On the other hand, the pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi will start off his Pakistan ODI captaincy with Mohammad Rizwan retaining his spot in the 50-over format, while Faisal Akram earned a call-up.

For the unversed, Pakistan will host white-ball series throughout October and November after the Test series ended 1-1 vs South Africa. From October 28 to November 1, Rawalpindi and Lahore will host the three-match T20I series against South Africa.

Later, from November 4 to 8, Faisalabad will host the three-match ODI series. From November 11 to 15, Pakistan will host Sri Lanka, traveling to Rawalpindi for a three-match ODI series. From November 17 to 29, Pakistan will lock horns in a T20I tri-series against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka.
