PCB announces Pakistan’s T20I squad for Bangladesh tour; senior trio absent

On Tuesday, July 8, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a strong 15-man squad for the T20I series vs Bangladesh, starting later this month at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka.

It’s important to note that the senior trio of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Shah Afridi continue to be the notable absentees from the squad. Opening batter Fakhar Zaman, who last played this format in 2024, has returned to the squad.

On the other hand, all-rounder Faheen Ashraf, who last played T20Is in 2023, has finally made a comeback to the squad. Ahmed Daniyal, who had an exceptional PSL 2025 season, has earned his maiden call-up.

Moreover, all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has returned to the squad after playing his last T20I in January 2024. Also, keeper-batter Mohammad Harris, who scored an unbeaten ton against Bangladesh in the last T20I, will continue to take up the No.3 slot.

Moving further, pacers Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr, and Haris Rauf miss out due to their respective injuries. It’s worth noting that both Pakistan and Bangladesh recently locked horns in a three-match T20I series in May and June 2025 in Pakistan, when the hosts defeated the visitors by a 3-0 margin.

Batting all-rounder Salman Ali Agha continues to lead the T20I team, having a decent record as a captain in the shortest format of the game.
