The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended middle-order batsman Haider Ali while the player is being investigated criminally in England. The Greater Manchester Police in Hove took the 24-year-old into custody. On August 3, Haider played for the Pakistan Shaheens in a one-day match at Beckenheim. The young cricketer, who was travelling with the Pakistan Shaheens in England, was arrested on Monday after it was reported that a rape had occurred at a Manchester location on July 23, 2025.
According to Cricbuzz, Haider Ali was arrested in connection with an alleged case of sexual molestation and was later released on bail. Following sufficient conviction, the PCB has now taken a firm stance on the incident involving the young cricket player, according to a statement the board has just issued regarding the matter.

The PCB responded by announcing Haider Ali's provisional suspension and confirming that it was aware of the continuing criminal investigation into him. The PCB added that the temporary ban will remain in effect until the case has produced a significant result. Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation."
In the two red-ball matches, Haider, who was playing for the Shaheens on their tour of England, scored 0 and 17 against the First Class Counties XI and 1 against the MCC Young Cricketers and South Asian Cricket Academy XI, respectively. To date, Haider has participated in 35 T20Is and two ODIs for Pakistan, amassing 505 and 42 runs in each category. It was in October 2023 that he last played for the senior men's squad.
