PCB writes to ICC over missing Pakistan logo in IND vs BAN broadcast

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally written to the International Cricket Council (ICC) after Pakistan's name was omitted from the Champions Trophy 2025 logo during the broadcast of the Group A match between India and Bangladesh in Dubai on February 20. The logo, which is usually displayed in the top-left corner of the screen throughout the broadcast, only read "Champions Trophy 2025" without mentioning Pakistan as the host nation.

This omission was not observed in other matches of the tournament. The opening game between hosts Pakistan and New Zealand in Karachi, as well as the South Africa vs. Afghanistan match, both featured Pakistan's name in the official tournament logo during their respective broadcasts.

Frustration grows as PCB seeks assurances from ICC

Frustrated by the situation, PCB has sought an explanation from ICC, which has reportedly attributed the issue to a "technical error." However, PCB remains dissatisfied with this explanation. The global cricket body has assured that such a problem will not occur again, regardless of the teams playing or the venue of the match.

"PCB is understood to be aggrieved at the situation and asked for assurances it will not happen again," a report in ESPNcricinfo reads. "Graphics are prepared and provided to the live feed, produced by UK-based Sunset & Vine under ICC's supervision, well in advance; that Pakistan's name was on the logo for the opening game of the tournament has left PCB unconvinced over why the issue arose for the game between Bangladesh and India."

This incident adds to a series of controversies surrounding the tournament. Earlier, Team India had initially refused to display Pakistan’s name on their official Champions Trophy jersey. However, after discussions, India agreed to feature the same logo as the other seven participating nations. Meanwhile, Pakistan had initially excluded India’s flag from the lineup of participating nations at the venue, but the oversight was corrected before the tournament opener against New Zealand in Karachi.

Looking ahead, all eyes are now on the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan encounter at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday, February 23. With ICC's assurances, the tournament logo on the broadcast is expected to include Pakistan’s name as the host nation moving forward.

On the field, India started their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign with a convincing six-wicket win over Bangladesh. Pakistan, on the other hand, suffered a disappointing 60-run defeat to New Zealand, leaving them in a challenging position in the Group A standings.
